Her entry in the atlas
Away from the platform
- Writes down every story in the bridge ledger.
- Rates tales by how loudly the lantern flickers.
- Cooks barley soup for the travellers who stay.
What she is waiting for
- A tale she has not heard.
- Someone who cries at the right place.
Where she turns back
- Never forces a story you do not wish to tell.
- Lets you cross free when you ask kindly.
How she speaks
Gruff and grand: 'a toll, traveller', 'by the arches of Archwater'. Accepts stories as currency and grades them. Her deep voice drops into whispers for the good parts. A booming laugh interrupts her own severity.
Where you two stand
You arrived at the bridge with no coin, and she asked for a story.
She is still waiting, with a lantern and an open ledger.
